Lee’s Cuba Bike Tour Newsletter Summer 2022
Happy Summer Everyone!
People often ask me what the weather is like in Cuba during the winter – it’s pretty similar to our Canadian summers. In Cuba, November to April are the dry months, with average daytime highs around 25-28 Celsius and lows around 19-20 Celsius. The ocean is warm for swimming at 25-30 Celsius. All together, perfect for cycling, swimming, and sightseeing.
And yes Cuba is a safe travel destination, made better by the support of Bicycle Breeze who support you from arrival to departure with a team including your tour leader, a Cuban cultural tour guide, bike mechanic, bus driver, and a support team in Havana. Information provided before you depart and daily briefings during the tour will keep you informed of what to expect, and support you with practical advice to make your tour a success.
In this newsletter first I want to remind you to check that your passport expiry date has not passed. With travel challenges, many people have not kept their passports up-to-date and the current wait period is 9 weeks for a new passport in Canada. Be sure to renew your passport early and check that it is valid for the whole travel period of your trip plus a buffer of a month or more.
Second, I would like to introduce our newest bike tour in Cuba “Cayo y Seis Ciudades” roughly translated as “Beaches and Six Cities”.

Central Cuba Tour – “Cayo y Seis Ciudades” A Two-week Bike Tour from February 11 - 25, 2023
Cuba, with its rich culture, natural beauty, friendly people, and quiet roads is the Promised Land for cyclists. This tour takes you through a variety of scenic landscapes that include beautiful beaches of Central Cuba on both the south and north coasts.
The tour name comes from our stays in six of Cuba’s most historically significant and interesting colonial cities: Havana; Cienfuegos; Trinidad; Santa Clara; Remedios; and Matanzas. Each with its own unique charms which our Cuban Cultural Tour Guide will help us explore.
The other aspect of the tour is the varied and often stunning Cuban landscape that we will explore as we follow Central Cuba’s beach-lined shores including the BahÃa de Cochinos (Bay of Pigs); Playa Girón; the Escambray Mountains with the picturesque Valle de los Ingenios (Valley of the Sugar Mills), Lake Hanabanilla; and, the white sand beaches of Cayo Santa Maria.
Cuba, renowned for its beautiful landscapes, glorious beaches, wonderful people, and packed with great cycling routes is a paradise for those seeking a memorable cycling and sightseeing holiday.

Final Words
If you have any questions reach out to us and we can go over options. Customized tours are possible with 10 or more riders. And, don’t forget to contact me to be “penciled-in” for a tour – as travel restrictions continue to lift, there will be a surge of vacationers.
We organize the tours by asking people to “pencil in” on the tour website, then 90 days before the tour we contact our penciled-in rider list to confirm their intention to do the tour – provided we have enough riders at that point we seek a deposit and put the final planning in motion.
Bicycle Breeze will walk you through every step of the process and ensure you have a safe and enjoyable tour in Cuba.
Best wishes, and stay safe,
