Cuba Bike Tour Newsletter - Spring 2022
Thank you to
everyone who reached out to wish me well and help out as I recovered from eye
surgery this winter. The result has been very good, so good in fact that we are
leaving for Mallorca Spain this week to enjoy Spring cycling carrying over from
our winter cycling fitness and some indoor spinning.
As promised in the Winter Newsletter, we have completed the full-length version of our Fat Mary / Maria la Gorda 2022 tour video. A link is provided below along with a summary of the planned repeat of this tour in January 2023. We hope the video leaves you excited to try a bike tour in Cuba yourself.
Fat Mary Tour 2022 – The Video
Get a bag of popcorn and a beverage and check out this video. We screened it on the weekend with the tour riders and they were very pumped to re-live their 15-day adventure.

Western Cuba Tour – “Fat Mary / María la Gorda” Next Edition: January 21 – February 4, 2023
This is a very popular route, typically with a tailwind due to the predominant east to west winds in Cuba.
On this route, you will cycle from Matanzas to
Havana and beyond, all the way to the western tip of Cuba at María la Gorda
(the tour’s namesake). In Havana, we will pause a few days to explore the
capital city, including the old town “Vieja Havana”. The quiet back roads of
western Cuba will take you past lush green fields of tobacco through the
Viñales Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its unique karst
landscape, indigenous architecture of thatched-roof houses, and traditional
crafts and music. Between cycling days, we will rest and restore our energy on
several of the most beautiful beaches in Cuba.

Final Words
If you have any questions reach out to us and we can go over options. Customized tours are possible with 10 or more riders. And, don’t forget to contact me to be “penciled in” for a tour – as travel restrictions continue to lift, there will be a surge of vacationers.
